A growing number of health departments are requiring food handlers to show proof of food safety training in the form of food handler cards. Regulations can vary by city or county, and it’s important to check with your health department for local requirements.

The following states require food handler cards and accept Food Handler by MenuTrinfo, LLC:

  • Arizona
  • California (Riverside, San Bernardino, and San Diego Counties do not accept outside providers of food handler training)
  • Hawaii
  • Illinois
  • New Mexico
  • Texas
  • Utah
  • Virginia (Required and approved in Hampton County and Peninsula County)
  • West Virginia

  • Nevada (Carson City, Las Vegas, and Douglas County do not accept outside providers of food handler training)
  • New Hampshire
  • New Jersey (Clark and Bergen Counties do not accept outside providers of food handler training)
  • New York (New York City does not accept outside providers of food handler training)
  • North Carolina
  • North Dakota
  • Ohio
  • Oklahoma (Cleveland, Creek, Payne, and Tulsa Counties do not accept outside providers of food handler training)
  • Pennsylvania
  • Puerto Rico
  • Rhode Island
  • South Carolina
  • South Dakota
  • Tennessee
  • Vermont
  • Wisconsin
  • Wyoming

At this time, these states require food handler cards and are not accepting outside providers of Food Handler training:
